Before and After Treatment

Special advice for before and after treatment.

It is a good idea to wear light, loose fitting clothing to ensure the moves applied give you the maximum response and benefit.

After just one treatment many people often experience quite notable changes to their balance and physical and general well-being.

Although Bowen Therapy is a relatively gentle application of movements, some moves can still be a little uncomfortable when applied. After treatment it is sometimes possible to experience reactions, which can vary from feeling very energetic to feeling sleepy or thirsty. Some clients may feel slight flu-like symptoms, body aches, headaches or emotional releases. Only very few clients feel any greater reaction. Many reactions are a positive sign that the healing process is working, although, you do not need to experience any reactions at all for this to be so.

If you feel any discomfort in the following few days, do not become distressed.
To gain the maximum benefit from your treatment, there are a few simple precautions to observe:

  • Drink as much good quality water as possible to help flush toxins from the body
  • Avoid sitting for more than 30 minutes at a time if possible for the rest of the day After treatment
  • If you do experience any discomfort, drink water and go for a gentle walk for 10-15 Minutes, and drink more water after your walk
  • Only have tepid baths or showers. Not hot. Avoid electric blankets
  • Avoid heavy exercise or contact sports or lifting heavy objects.
  • Gentle exercise like swimming or walking is okay in moderation
  • Contact your Therapist if you are worried by any reaction you are experiencing
